St. Peter's Lutheran School

St. Peter's School has always been an integral part of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, and many of the leaders of the congregation have come to St. Peter's through the school, and/or have sent their children to the school.
Still, the school enrollment is mostly composed of non-member children, some of whom are not Christian or whose parents are not active members of a church.
This means that the presentation of the Gospel in the classroom and by the example of the staff and director are most important.
Weekly chapel devotions are also held under the direction of the Assistant to the Pastor.
The curriculum at St. Peter's has always been held to high standards of quality.
The curriculum of the Universal Pre-K class is authorized through the City of New York, and has worked well with the existing curriculum at St. Peter's.
District 19 Early Childhood Coordinator Terry Hecht has been a tremendous resource person for St. Peter's.
The academic curriculum initiated particularly in the Kindergarten, First and Second Grade classrooms was researched through the Lutheran Schools Association and its Executive Director, Marlene Lund.
St. Peter's is truly proud that its students have performed on average in kindergarten and first grade at a level more than one year in advance of the norm in all areas, including reading, math and comprehension, after taking an annual Stanford Achievement Test.
